Why GutVerity Exists

Our Purpose

Why GutVerity Exists

To make trustworthy medical evidence easier to understand and more useful in everyday life.

The internet has made health information easier to access, but not always easier to trust. Headlines often move faster than evidence, preliminary findings may be presented as proven facts, and confident claims can hide important limitations.

GutVerity was created to help readers distinguish established medical knowledge from premature claims, exaggeration, and misinformation. The name reflects a simple commitment: to seek clarity and truth in health information, especially in areas related to gut health, nutrition, weight, disease prevention, and healthy aging.

Our goal is not merely to summarize research. It is to explain what the evidence means, how strong it is, where uncertainty remains, and how the findings may - or may not - apply to real life.

GutVerity Principle

Evidence first. Health made clear.

How We Evaluate Health Information

1
Start with reliable sourcesWe prioritize peer-reviewed research, major clinical guidelines, systematic reviews, and trusted medical and public health organizations.
2
Consider the strength of the evidenceA large randomized trial, an observational study, and an early laboratory experiment do not provide the same level of certainty.
3
Explain context and limitationsWe look beyond the headline to consider study design, population, effect size, follow-up, possible bias, and clinical relevance.
4
State uncertainty clearlyWhen evidence is preliminary, conflicting, or incomplete, we say so. Absence of certainty should not be disguised as certainty.
5
Translate evidence into practical meaningMedical language is converted into clear explanations without removing the nuance needed for responsible health decisions.

What Readers Can Expect

Evidence before hype Attention-grabbing claims are examined against the totality of available evidence.
Clarity without oversimplification Complex research is explained plainly while preserving important qualifications.
Balanced interpretation Potential benefits, risks, limitations, and alternative explanations are considered together.

What GutVerity Does Not Do

GutVerity does not promote miracle cures, one-size-fits-all solutions, or fear-based health claims. It does not use a single study as proof when the wider evidence remains uncertain, and it does not replace individualized care from a qualified healthcare professional.

Health decisions are personal. Evidence can inform those decisions, but individual circumstances, preferences, medical history, and professional clinical assessment still matter.

Expert-led interpretation GutVerity is founded by Sung Hoon Jung, MD, PhD, a professor of gastroenterology and specialist in inflammatory bowel disease.
